Interested in getting your organisation or your friends involved in Social Inclusion Week?
There are lots of individuals and organisations who are already doing great things to promote social inclusion. Their work ranges from research and policy development to community outreach work, service provision and fundraising. One of the simplest things we can do to build caring and inclusive communities is to just reach out to those around us. This is why we encourage everyone to host their own Social Inclusion Week event.
Why not organise your own social inclusion event!
Hosting an event is a simple way to help people get involved in their communities and see the benefits of looking out for one another.
What would an ‘event’ look like?
Whatever you would like it to look like! There are any number of discussion groups, forums, BBQs, sporting matches, movie screenings and morning teas that could bring people together and help them to think less about ‘me’ and more about ‘we’. There are options that can work for every community, venue and budget. Remember - how people get together in communities, isn't as important as WHY!
What about fundraising?
Social Inclusion Week is a great opportunity to raise some money for one of the many great organisations that help those who are struggling. There is no one official charity for Social Inclusion Week, therefore your event may support a charity that is particularly relevant to your local community or is of personal importance to you. If you would like to donate to a charity but are not sure who to support, we are happy to recommend the School of Hard Knocks or the Choir of Hope and Inspiration now Choir of Hard Knocks
